The quick answer
Give your weapon setup a clear role: single-target damage, crowd control or mobile combat. Change one mod at a time and compare how reliably the setup handles that situation.

Plan around the encounter
VOID/BREAKER combines weapon modification with destructible environments. A setup needs to fit both the enemies ahead and the space you have to fight them.
Give a setup one clear job
Before comparing two configurations, decide what problem you are trying to solve. Is it maintaining damage on one target, handling a crowd, or keeping yourself moving while attacking?
A configuration can feel impressive in one situation and awkward in another. Naming its intended job makes a comparison more useful than simply counting how many effects it produces.
Change one variable at a time
When possible, hold the rest of the setup steady and change one mod or combination. If you alter everything at once, it becomes difficult to tell which choice improved the result.
Use a short note with three fields:
| What to record | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| The change you made | Identifies the thing being compared |
| The encounter or situation | Stops unlike situations from being treated as the same test |
| What felt better or worse | Captures consistency and handling, not just spectacle |
Judge the setup you can actually use
Consider whether you can keep the weapon effective while moving and reacting. A theoretical advantage is less useful if the handling causes you to stop dealing damage or puts you in danger.
Destructible environments are another reason to pay attention to the encounter itself. Ask whether a change helps you control the space, not only whether a single hit looks stronger.
