Brotato Item Sets: enable or disable DLC content in 1.2

Where to find Item Set

Go to Character Selection, then open Item Set before starting your next run. Use the menu to choose which expansion and free-update content is active.

The switches operate on content sets. They are useful when you want an earlier version’s content pool or want to remove one update’s additions while keeping the others.

Your next run	What to change
Play with the original content pool	Disable the additional content sets.
Remove pets while keeping other additions	Disable the Paws & Claws set.
Play with a particular expansion’s content	Enable that expansion’s set, provided you own it.
Compare two content combinations	Change the relevant sets before starting the next run.

What is free and what needs Primal Dread?

Item Sets are free. They arrived alongside Primal Dread in version 1.2, but they are a base-game feature.

Primal Dread is the paid expansion. It adds a new map with 20 waves, 10 characters, 17 weapons, 40 items and the Evolution stat. The expansion requires the base game. Switching on a content set does not replace owning its DLC.

The free update also changes Nightmare encounters, buffs several older characters and adjusts shop weapon offers. Those changes are separate from the new DLC roster.

If the game behaves differently after updating

Disable outdated Workshop mods before playing version 1.2. The developer’s update notes flag conflicts with older mods, so check them before treating an unexpected item pool or broken run as a missing DLC feature.

The Primal Dread balance beta is a separate branch from the default release. If you have opted into it, use the beta progress and mod checklist before changing branches again.
