The quick answer
The 1.0 player level cap is 50, while fully upgraded gear can reach level 55. Existing characters also need their skill points reassigned when first loading the 1.0 update.

Player level and gear level are different
| Progression track | 1.0 ceiling |
|---|---|
| Character | Level 50 |
| Fully upgraded equipment | Level 55 |
Do not use a weapon’s level as a target for your character experience bar. These are separate progression tracks, so reaching the character cap does not imply that all equipment improvements are finished.
Check your build before leaving home
Existing saves receive a skill-tree reset on the first 1.0 load. Reassign those points before judging whether your old build still works. A returning character with unspent points is a different test from a fully rebuilt character.
Before heading out, inspect your skills, review your equipment and prepare supplies for the next area.
Where the new journey leads
The complete map adds Cinder’s Cradle beyond Veilwater Basin. New Hollow Halls also appear in Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin. Treat destination access and your character’s readiness as separate checks: knowing where to go does not mean your current loadout is ready for it.
