The quick answer
Edit PalWorldSettings.ini under the server’s Saved/Config folder, not DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini. The latter is a template; editing it does not change the running world settings.

Locate the active file
Paths below are relative to the Steam server installation:
| Host | Active file |
|---|---|
| Windows | PalServer/Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/PalWorldSettings.ini |
| Linux | PalServer/Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini |
The directories are created after the server has run once. Pocketpair instructs administrators to copy the default template into the active location and edit the copy.
Make one controlled change
For troubleshooting, keep a backup of the existing configuration, stop the server through your host’s controls, edit the active file and restart. Try one easily identifiable setting first, such as the server name. This is a diagnostic workflow: it helps separate a wrong file from several unrelated setting errors.
If a hosting panel manages the same file, check its own save/apply process as well. Do not assume a local edit has reached a remote server.
PublicPort is not the listening port
PublicPort advertises the external port for a community server. It does not change the port on which the server listens. Treat advertising an address and configuring the actual connection as separate jobs.
Similarly, CrossplayPlatforms controls permitted platforms; the older AllowConnectPlatform setting is unavailable in this documentation version. See PS5 community-server setup for the broader joining workflow.
