REKA building guide: the Saw, snapping and roof cuts

Use REKA’s Saw to control roof cuts and stair connections, then build faster with previews, rotation indicators and multi-piece placement.

Coverage: 1.0 · Hotfix 4

The quick answer

The Saw, also called the Cut Manager, is in House Building Mode. It controls how intersecting pieces interact, including whether a roof cuts a wall or a bannister connects to adjacent stairs.

Use the Saw for unwanted connections

When two building pieces overlap, moving them farther apart is not your only option. Open House Building Mode and use the Saw / Cut Manager to change how the intersection behaves.

Two useful cases are a wall being cut away by a roof and a bannister snapping to a neighboring staircase. The Saw lets you control those relationships without replacing the entire section of your cottage.

Building problem Tool or control to check
A roof cuts off a wall you want to keep Saw / Cut Manager: adjust the wall–roof intersection.
A bannister joins the wrong stair Saw / Cut Manager: change the connection to the adjacent stair.
A piece faces the wrong direction Use the rotation-indicator compass before placing it.
You need a small position adjustment Move the existing block; it now tries to retain its position as you begin adjusting it.
You are placing or removing many pieces Use the 1.0 drag-to-build or drag-to-delete tools.

Preview before extending a wall or roof

The building preview shows the shape of a piece before placement. Use it to inspect a single join first, especially where a roof meets a wall or a stair crosses a landing. Once that join behaves the way you want, extend the section with the multi-piece tools.

REKA 1.0 also adds wood types, clay, improved snapping and roofing changes. The compass gives you a visual reference for rotation, which is particularly useful when matching a new section to an existing room.

Keep an eye on the remaining-block warning in the building interface. It appears when you are getting close to the house’s building-block limit.

Missing decorative pieces

Hotfix 4 fixes several building blocks and wearables that could not be found correctly. It also fixes grain and garlic satchels and mushroom piles failing to appear in the inventory. Pick up grain, garlic and mushrooms again after updating to obtain those item-building pieces.

If loading a house with clay walls freezes the game, update before rebuilding the house: Hotfix 4 includes a fix for that loading problem. The same patch fixes a save problem involving both versions of the bludnik shelf.

Before a long decorating session, set your preferred autosave frequency.
