No Man’s Sky expeditions: start from your main save and return

Use the Space Anomaly expedition terminal to start from an existing save, pause the expedition and bring eligible progress back afterward.

Coverage: Omega expedition system; 7.13 return change

The quick answer

Start an expedition from the terminal aboard the Space Anomaly to connect it to an existing save. You can pause it and return to that primary save, then use the terminal for the completion transfer.

Pick the starting route deliberately

An expedition can begin from a new save or from an existing one. For the latter, use the Space Anomaly terminal. It lets you prepare items and packaged technology, which become available when you reach the Anomaly during the expedition.

Choose this route when your goal is to keep the expedition connected to an established journey. A new-save expedition is a different starting point, so do not assume every transfer instruction applies to both.

Pause without abandoning your main journey

The terminal or main-menu option lets you pause an expedition and switch back to the primary save. That means you do not need to finish an entire expedition in one uninterrupted run just to visit your normal world again.

Separate cargo from account rewards

At completion, the terminal can return items and technology. Earned currencies and discoveries also feed back into the primary save under the documented system. Major unlocked expedition rewards are redeemed on other saves through the Quicksilver Synthesis Companion.

These are different mechanisms: moving selected cargo is not the same as claiming an unlocked reward. Check the relevant screen before concluding that something has disappeared.

If the season already expired

Patch 7.13 changed the return behavior for an expedition started from a primary save. See the expired-expedition fix before following older menu advice.
